Who are the leaders?

Our leadership team is entirely made up of volunteers who enjoy running cub meetings! All adult leaders have training and a CRB check, and there is always at least one adult who is first aid qualified.

If you would like the opportunity to do something you’d never thought of doing, while having lots of fun and giving back to the community at the same time, please get in touch – we can always do with more leaders!

Ben

I’m Ben and I’m a Cubs Section Volunteer at 4th Wilmslow, part of a team with Iain and Raj. My Cubs name is “Hathi”.

I first got into Scouting way back when in primary school, going to meetings in Much Wenlock in Shropshire with my school friends and making friends with Cubs from other schools too. I have fond memories of the Cubs evenings, playing games, learning new skills and having fun! Camps were always an exciting adventure with the opportunity to try out activities like pioneering, whittling and group camp fires, all on a weekend away with my friends!

I got back into Scouting in 2021 when I joined 4th Wilmslow as a Section Volunteer, having been inspired by my son Jack starting with Beavers the year before (he started Beavers 3 weeks before the first Covid lockdown). I was extremely impressed by how the team dealt with the move from face-to-face, to online then back to face-to-face and wanted to add my support.

I’ve really enjoyed the opportunity to try and create the same enjoyment and fun that I had as a child in Scouting, as well as providing knowledge and skills to the Cubs.

We do lots of varied activities with the Cubs, with the camps, “mad scientist” evenings that Iain has run, the Astronomer activity evenings, night hikes, visit to the fire station and of course the end of summer term water fight particular highlights!
